While I was having my first cup of coffee this morning, it dawned on me - I had not added an entry into my Editors blog since Wednesday.
The first week of operation of this site had been so hectic for me that I lost track of time, as it just seemed to fly by.
So, in order to placate my guilt and live up to the responsibility I've taken on to build and maintain BoomerBikerOnline, I'm here now, sitting at my laptop, making the time and taking stock in all that has been accomplished in the first 5 days of operation. And to share my thoughts about this website and some of my plans for the future.
BoomerBikerOnline's first official day of operation was Tuesday September 4, 2007. In the last 5 days since we opened, a LOT of events have transpired.
· Right out of the gate on Tuesday, I composed an email and sent it off to Dan George, Executive Director of the Florida Trail Riders.org. In my email to Mr. George, I outlined the details of a multi-media project idea I had been developing for quite some time now.
I went on to share the details of my project with Mr. George and to invite him and all the members of the Florida Trail Riders to become my partner and to become active project participants.
Finally, I outlined my project's fundraising potential and suggested that non-profit organizations like the Florida Trail Riders would benefit greatly from becoming actively involved.
Mr. George promised he would forward my proposal to the Florida Trail Riders Executive Committee for consideration.
· On Wednesday I was able to finalize the details of a business partnership with Capt. Wade Osborne of Afishionado Guide Services in Tampa, Florida to extend exclusive discounts to BoomerBikerOnline members who wish to experience a world-class fishing adventure on the waters in and around Tampa Bay.
The details of Capt. Osborne's guide services can now be found posted under the PRODUCTS department in the left-hand column of both the Public and Members Home pages of this site.
· Also, on a personal note, on Wednesday I took Mercedes, our families' 4-year-old pug to the vet. Ever since she was a puppy, Mercedes has had a problem with her right hindquarters.
From time to time she would become lame and countless visits to the vet, x-rays and examinations were unsuccessful in revealing the root cause of the problem -- until now.
This time, after being examined by our vet, he discovered that Mercedes had blown out her patella (her kneecap) and to correct this acute problem would require immediate surgery.
So, Mercedes underwent almost 3 hours of surgery the next day to rebuild her knee.
We picked her up Saturday morning and took her home to start her long period of recovery. Not only a very stressful situation for our other dog, Precious, but also for both my wife and I.
But, barring any complications, our vet says everything went well and Mercedes should enjoy a full recovery.
There's a lot more plans in the works for BoomerBikerOnline in the days, weeks and months to come, but I don't want to jinks myself by spilling the beans to future plans right now.
My advice to everyone is have a look around this site and try to take advantage of the useful information and member discounts already available.
And, please stay tuned….there's more good "stuff" coming!
