Wild-Rider One Day Tour #3
Wild-Rider One Day Tour 3
Our Price $0.00

We leave San José traveling east on a well maintained asphalt road. After about 30 minutes, we turn off the major highway and start climbing the majestic Irazú volcano toward the peak at 11.000 ft.

Along the way, riders negotiate a seemingly endless number of turns and vegetation zones, characterized by changes in altitude and climate. We ride past ranches with cattle and horses and over hilly fields where potatoes, onions and other vegetables are grown.

After visiting the impressive volcano with its green lagoon deep inside, we head on to the second stage of our trip, which takes us through the town of Cartago, the religious capitol of Costa Rica. After another 20 minutes we start down the mountain toward the beautiful Orosi valley, enjoying scenic view as we drive through coffee plantations and along an artificial lake.

After the small town of Orosi, the road turns to gravel as we continue on to the Tapantí National Park. An old supply-road leads us deep into the park, where we are treated to breathtaking views of untouched rain forests and the valley of Rio Macho.

After a long ride, we stop for lunch at the rustic Kiri lodge, where we can enjoy freshly caught trout.

After lunch, we will ride small gravel trails through coffee and vegetable plantations to the small town of Ujarras which is surrounded by green mountains and rain forests and located on a beautiful artificial lake. This is the location of "Dreamer's House" home of the famous Costa Rican sculptor Macedonio Quesada.

In the afternoon, if time allows, we can take a larger loop that will include several gravel sections as we return to San Jose.
